About The Founder

Kathy Nyman

Kathy Nyman’s journey in golf is one of evolution, resilience, and rediscovery. A former collegiate champion at Florida State, she turned professional in 1990 and spent decades immersed in the game as both a competitor and a respected teaching professional. As a member of the LPGA Teaching and Club Professional Division, Kathy built a meaningful career helping others improve their skills while staying connected to competitive play through section events and championships.

Over time, her path expanded beyond instruction. In 2013, she founded Rain Girl, Inc., inspired by a practical idea during a rainy round of golf. What began as a simple concept grew into a brand that connects and supports women golfers across the country, blending functionality with style and a shared love of the game.

In 2026, Kathy made a deeply personal decision to return to amateur status—closing one chapter and opening another. After more than 35 years as a golf professional, she chose to step away from teaching and rediscover the joy of playing purely for the experience, camaraderie, and love of the sport. Today, she embraces golf in a new way, participating in tournaments, traveling, and building meaningful connections within the amateur golf community.

My Journey in Golf

Kathy’s golf story began with competitive success, including her final collegiate win at Florida State before making the leap to professional golf. Early experiences on the Futures Tour led her to recognize that her strengths and passions were better suited to teaching and mentoring, where she spent years developing junior players and leading clinics.

Her career included serving as a tournament director for the North Florida Junior Golf Foundation and working closely with golfers of all levels. While professional golf limited her ability to participate in amateur events, it provided a foundation of knowledge, discipline, and perspective that would shape her future.

A turning point came as Kathy experienced the social and inclusive side of amateur golf, where competition and camaraderie coexist. Inspired by this environment, she created the Rain Girl Invitational in 2023—an event designed to bring women golfers together in a welcoming and enjoyable setting.

After years of reflection, Kathy chose to return to amateur status in 2026. This decision meant stepping away from long-held professional benefits, but it opened the door to new opportunities—club championships, invitationals, and couples tournaments in destinations around the world.

Now, Kathy is focused on what matters most: playing the game she loves, connecting with others, and embracing golf with a renewed sense of freedom and joy.

The Birth of Rain Girl Golf

In 2013, I designed my first line of rainwear for women and junior golfers.

I wanted pieces that were:

  • Lightweight and easy to pack
  • Comfortable and non-restrictive
  • Stylish enough to feel confident wearing
  • Practical for unpredictable weather

As a golfer, I understand how important freedom of movement is during the swing. I also understood that women want apparel that looks polished and intentional — not oversized or purely functional.

Rain Girl Golf was created to bridge that gap between fashion and performance.

In 2016, the collection was recognized in the “Best New Product” category at the PGA Merchandise Show. That acknowledgment confirmed that this wasn’t just a personal frustration, it was a real need in the women’s golf apparel market.

About Kathryn Nyman - Rain Girl Golf

Designed for Real Conditions

Golf is played in wind, mist, coastal air, humidity, and sudden downpours. It’s played early in the morning and late in the afternoon. It’s played across the United States, Canada, and internationally.

One moment that reinforced the importance of versatile rain gear happened while I was in Ireland. The weather was unusually warm but extremely windy. I wore my rain wrap skirt over leggings. It packed easily in my suitcase and gave me exactly the extra protection I needed without feeling overdressed.

That experience reflects the purpose behind every design: adaptable pieces that solve real problems.

Why Rain Girl Golf Is Different

There are many women’s golf clothing brands offering women’s golf jackets, pants, shirts, and accessories. What makes Rain Girl Golf different is perspective.

This line was created by someone who:

  • Played collegiate golf at a high level
  • Competed professionally
  • Understands swing mechanics
  • Understands tournament environments
  • Understands how weather impacts performance

Every design decision comes from experience, not trend forecasting alone.

Rain Girl Golf connects fashion with function. It allows women to look polished while staying prepared for changing conditions. It supports movement rather than restricting it.

Connecting Fashion with Function

My mission is to help women feel confident, prepared, and comfortable every time they step onto the course.

The weather should never dictate whether you play your best golf. The right ladies’ rain gear and accessories allow you to stay focused on strategy, swing, and enjoyment of the game.

Rain Girl Golf is built for women who take their golf seriously, whether they are competitive players, weekend golfers, or just beginning their journey.

The forecast may change. Your confidence shouldn’t.
